Handmade Memory Bears
from Meaningful Clothing
A stuffed bear made from someone's actual clothing holds that person in a way a photograph cannot. Starting at $40 each.
Something to Hold Onto When Words Are Not Enough
A memory bear is a stuffed teddy bear handmade from garments that carry real meaning, a parent's favorite shirt, a grandparent's housecoat, a baby's first outfit, a uniform worn with pride. The bear itself becomes the keepsake, something you can hold and pass down.
Memory bears are one of the most personal projects I make. They are popular memorial gifts for families who have lost someone, but they are ordered for all kinds of reasons, preserving a child's early clothing, honoring a milestone, or simply giving someone a tangible piece of a person they love.
Every bear starts with a conversation. We talk through which garment or garments to use, how you want the bear to look, and what this project means to you. Nothing is cut until we have talked it through.
Start Your Project
If It Was Worn With Love, It Can Become a Bear
Most garments and woven fabrics can be incorporated. Here are some of the most common.
Dress Shirts & Button-Downs
A parent's everyday wardrobe, the shirts that defined their style for years, sewn into something you can hold.
Baby & Children's Clothing
First outfits, tiny onesies, and little-kid favorites that go by too fast, preserved in a bear that grows up with your family.
Uniforms
Military, first responder, work, and sports uniforms representing service, sacrifice, and pride.
Hoodies & Sweatshirts
The worn-in, well-loved pieces that meant comfort and warmth, still doing that job, just in a new form.
Robes & Loungewear
Housecoats, robes, and at-home clothing that carry quiet, everyday memories of someone who is no longer here.
Sports & School Apparel
Jerseys, team gear, and school shirts from seasons and years worth holding onto in more than just a photo.

Memory Bears and Memory Quilts
Many clients order a memory bear and a memory quilt from the same collection of clothing. It is a natural pairing, the quilt goes on the wall or the bed, the bear goes in someone's hands. Both made from the same garments. Both lasting.
Memory Bear FAQ
Almost any garment works, t-shirts, dress shirts, button-downs, hoodies, uniforms, robes, and more. Soft, woven fabrics work best for the exterior. If you are unsure whether a specific item will work, reach out and we can talk through it before your consultation.
Typically one to two garments is enough for a single bear, depending on the size of the pieces involved. Larger garments like shirts and jackets provide more usable fabric. Bring what you have to the consultation and we will figure out the best approach.
Yes, in many cases. If there is enough fabric, or if you have multiple garments, I can make several bears from the same collection. This is a popular option for families who want each person to receive their own keepsake. Ask during your consultation.
Wear and fading are part of the story and usually not a problem. Light staining can often be worked around during the cutting process. Bring the garments to the consultation and we will look at them together before deciding on the best approach.
You can drop off garments in person by appointment at CreateATL at 900 Murphy Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. If you are not local, you can ship them directly. I will provide shipping instructions after your consultation.
Most memory bear orders are completed within two to three weeks depending on the current workload. Your estimated completion date will be confirmed at consultation. Rush options may be available, just ask.
