Common Questions About the Work
Yes. If something in the gallery caught your eye: a layout, color scheme, or style, share that when you reach out and I'll use it as a starting point. Every quilt is built around your specific garments, so the finished piece will be uniquely yours.
It depends on the size you want and whether you prefer Gallery Style (uniform blocks) or Collage Style (varied block sizes). A Throw quilt typically uses 12 to 16 shirts. A Queen can use 25 or more. I'll give you a specific count once we discuss your size and layout during your free consultation.
Yes. Many quilts in the gallery are made from dress shirts, blouses, baby clothes, denim, sweaters, uniforms, and other fabrics. As long as the garment has enough usable fabric after washing, I can typically work with it. Memory quilts in particular often come from a wide variety of clothing.
Garments should be clean and free of heavy damage. Minor wear, fading, or small stains in areas outside the main graphic are generally fine, those areas are trimmed when I cut each block. If you're unsure about a specific piece, bring it along and we'll assess it together during the consultation.
Every quilt in the gallery was a one-of-a-kind custom order made for a specific client. None are available for resale. What I can do is create something entirely new for you, same level of craft, built around the clothing and memories that matter to you.
