bigwes.com is the personal website of Wesley Hall ("I," "me," or "my"), a quilter and speaker in Atlanta, Georgia, who publishes as Quilts by Big Wes. This Privacy Policy explains what information I collect when you visit the site or contact me, how I use it, who I share it with, and your choices and rights.

By using bigwes.com, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.

Information I Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Book a Talk inquiries: your name, email address, phone number (optional), organization, event details, and how you heard about me.
  • Direct correspondence: anything you share with me by email, text, or phone.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit bigwes.com, my service providers and I automatically collect:

  • Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen size.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, referring website, and approximate geographic location derived from IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see the Cookie Policy for a full list with purposes and durations.

Former Custom Quilt Clients

Until 2026, Quilts by Big Wes made custom quilts. If you were a client, I keep the contact details, order records, and invoices from your project only as long as tax and business record keeping requires. I do not use them for marketing.

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website
  • Understand which pages and posts people read
  • Detect and prevent spam and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

How I Share Your Information

I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. I share information only:

  • With service providers that run parts of the site for me, listed below.
  • When required by law, including in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.

Your Choices and Rights

Cookie and Tracking Controls

A cookie preferences banner appears on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie Preferences" in the site footer. When you deny analytics consent, analytics tags are suppressed for that browser. See the Cookie Policy for details on each cookie used.

Opt Out of Google Analytics

You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block Google Analytics data collection on every site you visit.

State-Level Rights (California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, and others)

Residents of US states with comprehensive privacy laws have specific rights, which generally include:

  • Right to know what categories of personal information I collect, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties I share it with.
  • Right to access a copy of the personal information I hold about you.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to delete personal information I hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. I do not sell or share personal information.
  • Right against discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email wesley@bigwes.com with the subject line "Privacy Rights Request". I will verify your identity by matching the information you provide against records I already have, and I will respond within forty-five days (extendable by another forty-five days where permitted by law). You may also designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf with valid written authorization.

Data Retention

  • Speaking inquiries: as long as needed to plan the event and keep basic records, up to seven years
  • Former client order records: as long as tax and business record keeping requires
  • Analytics cookie data: as set out in the Cookie Policy

Security

I use reasonable safeguards to protect the information I collect, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on internal systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

bigwes.com is not directed to children under the age of thirteen, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact me and I will delete it.

International Visitors

bigwes.com is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in any country where my service providers operate. By using the site, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the services the site uses or in applicable law. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
