You spent months collecting those t-shirts. Maybe years. Now they are stacked in a box, waiting to become something. Or maybe you inherited fabric from a grandmother who is no longer here, and you want those pieces to feel held together by more than thread. Whatever brought you here, one thing is true: the quilting finish matters just as much as the top you built.

At Big Wes Quilts, we use a computerized long arm quilting machine to finish your quilts with custom stitch patterns that complement the story you are already trying to tell. This is not cookie-cutter stippling. This is intentional, custom quilting designed to make your quilt feel complete.

What Is Long Arm Quilting?

A long arm quilting machine is a large-format sewing machine mounted on a frame that holds your quilt sandwich flat and taut. Instead of feeding a quilt through a standard sewing machine, the long arm machine moves across the quilt surface, stitching the top, batting, and backing together in a single pass.

The result is a quilt that is evenly quilted from edge to edge, with consistent tension throughout. No puckers. No missed spots. Just smooth, beautiful stitching that binds your layers together and brings the whole piece to life.

Our long arm is computerized, which means we can load custom digital stitch patterns and have the machine execute them with precision that would be nearly impossible by hand. That is where the real magic happens.

Why Computerized Quilting Changes Everything

When you bring us a quilt top, we do not just pick a random stitch and run it edge to edge. We look at what you have built. We look at the blocks, the fabrics, the story behind the quilt, and we choose a pattern that supports it.

A memory quilt made from a loved one's clothing calls for something soft and continuous, something that flows like a memory should. A t-shirt quilt with bold graphics needs a pattern that frames each shirt without competing with it. A baby quilt might want something whimsical and light. A Crown Royal bag quilt? That one deserves something bold enough to match the energy.

Computerized long arm quilting gives us the flexibility to match the stitch to the story. Every time.

The Quilts We Finish

Our long arm quilting services cover a wide range of quilt types. Here is what we work on most often:

  • T-Shirt Quilts — We quilt t-shirt quilts that we build in-house as part of our full-service offering. We also take in t-shirt quilt tops that customers have assembled themselves and need finished.
  • Memory Quilts — Clothing quilts, photo quilts, and other keepsake pieces made from fabric that carries personal meaning.
  • Custom Quilt Tops — If you pieced your own top and need a professional finish, we can help. Bring us your top, batting, and backing and we will do the rest.
  • Special Occasion Quilts — Graduation quilts, baby quilts, wedding quilts. If there is a milestone attached to it, we want to help you honor it right.

Atlanta's Long Arm Quilting Studio

We are based at CreateATL, a creative workspace at 900 Murphy Ave SW in Atlanta. This is where the quilting happens. When you drop off your quilt, you are walking into an actual working studio, not a storefront.

We take on long arm quilting service requests from quilters across metro Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs, including Marietta, Kennesaw, Roswell, Decatur, and Sandy Springs. Shipping arrangements can be made for customers who are not local.

Every quilt is treated as a custom project. We do not run assembly-line quilting. When your quilt is on our frame, it has our full attention.

What Makes Our Custom Quilting Services Different

Wesley Hall has been quilting for over ten years and holds professional certifications in longarm quilting. He built Big Wes Quilts on the belief that quilts are not just blankets. They are documents. They hold moments, people, and places that matter.

That philosophy shows up in the way we approach every finishing project. We think about what the quilt is meant to say, and we use our computerized quilting system to help it say it clearly.

When you pick up your finished quilt, you should feel the difference between what you dropped off and what you are holding now. Not just warmer or heavier, but whole. Like it became what it was supposed to be.
