Meet Wesley

Owner, Quilts by Big Wes

Wes grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where family, music, tradition, and storytelling were central to everyday life. Those early influences shaped his deep appreciation for personal history and the importance of preserving meaningful memories.

By day, Wes works in digital analytics as the Director of Solution Engineering at a global analytics agency. He leads teams of engineers designing data frameworks for some of the largest websites on the internet. Each year, he also serves as a guest lecturer at Howard University, Lehman College and Georgia Tech.

When he is not working with data, Wes can usually be found in his quilt studio.

Quilts by Big Wes

Quilting is where Wes brings together creativity, storytelling, and craftsmanship. Through Quilts by Big Wes, he creates custom memory quilts from t-shirts and other meaningful clothing. Some quilts celebrate milestones like graduations, concerts, sports, and travel. Others honor loved ones who are deeply missed. In every case, the goal is to transform items that hold emotional value into something lasting and tangible.

Wes also teaches quilting classes, which allows him to connect with people who want to learn, create, and tell their own stories through fabric.

Many interests, one common thread

Although Wes’s interests span many disciplines, they are connected by a shared mindset. In analytics, his focus is on structure, reliability, and clarity. In quilting, that same mindset manifests in thoughtful design, precise construction, and attention to detail.

Whether working with data or fabric, Wes approaches each project with care and intention.

A note on the work

The materials used in a memory quilt are never just fabric. They represent experiences, relationships, and stories. Wes’s role is to treat those materials with respect and transform them into something that can be held, shared, and passed down.
