Delta Sigma Theta T-Shirt Quilt

I love making t-shirt quilts because they have special meaning for the recipient. I made this Delta Sigma Theta T-Shirt Quilt for my daughter’s friend, and as I remarked on my Instagram post, hearing her say OMG! was the best part of making it.

Founded on January 13, 1913, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., Delta Sigma Theta was born to create a sisterhood dedicated to promoting academic excellence, social justice, and public service among its members.

Delta Sigma Theta was founded by 22 collegiate women, known as the “Twenty-Two Founders,” who sought to address the limited opportunities for African-American women in higher education and to challenge social injustices. The sorority was established during a time of great societal change and was rooted in the ideals of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
