## Common Questions About Booking a Talk

What should I include when I reach out?

The group or organization name, roughly how many people will attend, whether you're thinking in-person or virtual, and a date if you already have one. If you don't have a date yet, that's fine, reach out anyway and I'll work out timing with you.

Is there a fee for speaking engagements?

It depends on the event, the travel involved, and the type of organization. Reach out with your event details and I'll follow up with specifics.

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better, especially for guild programs or conferences that plan a season or year ahead. That said, reach out even if your timeline is tight, I'll do what I can to make it work.

Do you speak outside the Atlanta area?

Yes, I've spoken at quilt guilds across Georgia and the Southeast, and at academic programs including Howard University, Georgia Tech, and Lehman College. Let me know your location and whether in-person or virtual makes more sense.

What topics can you speak on?

My core talks focus on narrative quilts, how a quilt can hold and tell someone's story, and memory quilt techniques, the practical craft of turning clothing and fabric into a lasting keepsake. I also bring in African American quilting traditions, including the Underground Railroad quilt legend, Gee's Bend, and Harriet Powers, when that fits the audience or occasion.
